HIGH CALCIUM QUICKLIME
High calcium quicklime is lime made from rich deposits of high calcium limestone containing less than 5% magnesium carbonate. Calcium oxide (CaO), commonly known as lime or quicklime, is a widely used chemical compound. It is a white, alkaline, and crystalline solid.
Quicklime is created by heating limestone as shown in the following equation:
CaCO3 + HEAT = CaO + CO2
High calcium quicklime provides superior chemical performance. It will provide exceptional performance for your acid-neutralization, SO2-absorption, sludge-stabilization or other industrial-alkali applications.
Graymont makes a number of high calcium quicklime products tailored to specific industries. These products include:
AOD LIME
AOD lime is specifically processed to meet the demands of the specialty steel markets. Our AOD-grade quicklime is characterized by low carbon and sulfur contents while retaining exceptionally high reactivity.
PULVERIZED LIME
Pulverized lime is a specially milled quicklime product for various metallurgical, industrial, chemical and agricultural applications. Final product size is milled to less than 100-mesh. Pulverized lime is also available with an additive for enhanced handling and flowability.
CHEMICAL LIME
Chemical lime is produced by the selective mining of chemically pure CaCO3. Continuing throughout the manufacturing process, Graymont carefully monitors process control to produce a high calcium quicklime which is highly reactive and has exceptionally high particle surface area. Chemical lime will provide exceptional performance for your acid neutralization, flue gas desulfurization, sludge stabilization or other industrial alkali application. The unique combination of high availability CaO, high reactivity and high particle surface area means that less of Graymont’s lime will be needed to “do the job” as compared with other commercially produced lime products.
GRANULATED LIME
Granulated lime is a specially sized quicklime which meets exacting particle size specifications. Granulated lime provides our customers with a fine yet dust-free product.
GROUND LIME
Ground lime is sized to meet particular specifications where a high-quality lime product is required. When customers demand a high-performance ground lime, Graymont can deliver.
BOF LIME
BOF lime is specifically processed to meet the demands of integrated steel manufacturing. Our BOF-grade lime yields low loss-on-ignition, low sulfur and low fines content for optimum process results.
PCC LIME
PCC lime provides superior chemical base performance compared to standard lime products. Graymont carefully monitors process control to produce high calcium CaO which is highly reactive and has exceptionally high brightness.
